Style/Program

Definition

In the Retail Ops environment, a Style or Program definition is a set of characteristics, commonly used in the Kitchen industry, that describe the global atmosphere of a project (e.g.: modern, industrial, rustic, ...), the color and structure of doors, the kind of handles, worktops or wallpanels, etc.
These characteristics are the know-how of a Supplier, and can be applied to certain Products in the context of a specific Catalog.

Presentation

The Style definition is divided into several concepts:

  • The Style/Program: the name of the global set of characteristics, that indicates a general atmosphere.
  • A set of Style features: all the available chaacteristics that define the whole concept of Style definition (e.g. Front type & color, Box color, Handle type & color, Glass front, Worktop type & color, Wallpanel type & color, Plinth color, etc.).
  • Each Style feature owns a value, aka a Style option.

The differents Styles, Features & Options can be accessed from their related Catalog detail form.

note

You should not need to edit the characteristics of a Style neither its Features & Options. The screens that can be accessed from your Catalog dialog are just here in order for you to control your data. But this data is automatically completed or updated anytime you process a drawing import on a Retail Ops Document.

Style/Program

A Style/Program owns several characteristics:

  • A User code: this is the code displayed on the screen, that is generally used as a commercial identifier.
  • The "Order code" is the code as managed by your Catalog manufacturer (i.e. the Identification key used when purchasing your Products). Also used when purchasing via an EDI exchange.
  • A short Description, or Name.
  • Optionally a long Description, which sometimes describes the whole concept held by the Program.
  • Potentially a Price group (aka Price level): Programs are grouped in different Price groups according their level of finish, meaning that a Product sold in a higher Price group may cost more than if sold in a lower one.

Features & Options

The list of available characteristics that can define a Product may differ from a Catalog to another one. It may happen that no Style definition specification exist on a Catalog simply beacuse its Manufacturer does not manage this concept.
However when present, the characteristics of a Style Feature or Option are very similar to those of a Style:

  • A User code: this is the code displayed on the screen (for Options), that is generally used as a commercial identifier.
  • The "Order code" is the code as managed by your Catalog manufacturer (i.e. the Identification key used when purchasing your Products). Also used when purchasing via an EDI exchange.
  • A short Description, or Name.
  • Optionally a long Description, which may give more precision about the related value.

Document Style definition

A Retail Ops Document, when imported from a graphical tool, can hold a full Style definition for each of its imported Products.
A coloured icon allows you to access the full details of the Style characteristics held by each Document line (cf. Style definition).

These Style definitions will also be detailed in the Document reportings intended for your Customer.
